Local Conference of Youths 2023
What do climate change negotiators talk about? How has COP progressed over the years? What stake does Singapore have in the negotiations? LCOYs are organised around the world each year under YOUNGO, the youth constituency of the UNFCCC. The recommendations of youth participants at various LCOYs are put together at the Conference of Youth (COY)— so voices of youths will be heard in the COP process!
Mitigation
What are the different aspects of climate mitigation? Understand international mitigation policies and assess the controversy and challenges surrounding mitigation methods. Participants sat for a panel discussing Singapore’s decarbonisation strategies.
Adaptation
What is climate resilience? Can local community projects influence international adaptation policies? Participants went to visit a community project, at Ground Up Initative
Loss & Damage
Why is loss and damage a hot topic? How relevant is it to Singapore? Understand differing perspectives between developed and developing countries and the barriers surrounding L&D funding. Participants heard from experts around the region on the future of the L&D Finance Facility.
